Outsiders Character blog

In the book The Outsiders by S.E Hinton it is about a group of friends who are not as wealthy as others, not as well educated, and are known as "The Greasers" and though it was very hard to choose one person out of this group, I chose Darry Curtis to explore more. Throughout the book I've learned many things about my character Darry, for example in my book I learned Darry loves his family and would do almost anything for them. Some other things I've learned about Darry is that he's very strong, hardheaded, good looking, and very hard working. Though within the book I also saw a tremendous amount of growth in Darry's character, in fact in the beginning of the novel Darry was more of a tough guy who quit school for his family and took the role of his kid brothers father, and although he may have seemed strict it was always for the better of his two younger brother's Sodapop and Ponyboy. As time went on things went down and started changing, for example near the ending of the novel Darry was more laid back and understanding of the situations everyone was going through especially his younger brother Ponyboy. Though throughout the book I really fell in love with the character Darry became, he was one of those people who put his family first no matter what he had to do he was also willing to do anything just for the sake of his family which is probably what I admire most about him. All in all Darry Curtis was a tough greaser who would do anything for his family and friends no matter what it takes.

For this part of the blog I chose the song "Outlaws" by Alessia Cara because I think it relates to the relationship between Darry and his younger brothers. For example in the song it tells how they'll be partners in crime together and they'll always be there for each other and I think that perfectly shows the relationships that these brothers have with each other. Although I do realize that this song may be talking about a couples relationship it still works for this story and relationship between these brothers. Therefore I chose the song "Outlaws" by Alessia Cara because I think it very accurately shows the connection and relationship between Darry, Sodapop, and Ponyboy Curtis.
